Committee for Advanced Studies and Research (CASR)

1. The Committee for Advanced Studies and Research shall consist of the following:

  • The Vice-Chancellor
  • The Director of Advisory, Extension and Research Services
  • Five Professors to be nominated by the Syndicate
  • Two teachers having research qualifications and experience to be nominated by the Academic Council and
  • Two experts to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor

2. The quorum for the meetings of the committee for Advanced Studies and Research shall be four.

3. The term of office of the nominated members shall be two years.

4. The functions of the Committee for Advanced Studies and Research shall be as follows:

  • to advice the Authorities on all matters connected with promotion of research and development of advisory and extension services in the University
  • to consider the proposals for research, advisory and extension services submitted by the different departments of the University
  • to consider and report to the Authorities on the introduction and conferment of research courses and degrees in the University in a particular subject or subjects.
  • to consider the applications of student for admission to research courses and determine the subjects of their thesis
  • to recommended teachers for supervision of research
  • to recommend a panel of names of examiners for research examinations
  • to arrange for the publication of research reports and bulletins
  • to do such other acts as may be assigned or referred to it by the Vice-Chancellor, the Syndicate or the Academic Council.
